I need your help. It is not easy asking for help or admitting that you’re in need of help, but you won’t receive it if you don’t ask. So, here I am… asking.
If you follow my blog, then you know my posts typically address tools, techniques, tips, and concepts to help others with their creative efforts. This is not a typical post. While I am usually trying to support the creative community, this time I am asking for your support.
Tunnels are curious. There are two good things about tunnels. One, they provide a method for you to get through an obstacle. Two, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. The bad thing about tunnels is that it may be a long, dark, and perilous journey to reach the other side.
This year, metaphorically speaking, I have unexpectedly entered a very long and dark tunnel that currently seems impossible to navigate on my own. It feels like I’m living in an Indiana Jones movie where there is a new trap, challenge, or terrifying pitfall around every corner. Now that I’m in the middle of it, one misstep could literally destroy my life – my family, my health, my ability to write and blog, my residency abroad, everything. I realize that sounds dramatic, but I assure you that I am not exaggerating.
Before entering this metaphorical tunnel, I was posting supportive and informative content almost every day. Since I’ve entered it, I haven’t been able to post any content and have had to pause the editing of my two new books. This is also the reason that I haven’t been able to send out any monthly newsletters since my first. The long and short of it is that I am facing some very troublesome times.
Many of you may be curious about what exactly is going on that has me caught up in this dark place. Some things are just too personal to share in a public forum. Please consider this post the blog equivalent of an unspoken prayer request. What I will say is that several converging incidents have led to what boils down to a financial crisis. If I fail to resolve it, then the walls will come crumbling down and I may never reach the light at the end of the tunnel.
How can you help?
If you enjoy my content, empathize with my plea, and are in a position to make a supportive contribution, you can donate directly to my PayPal account paypal.me/maxwellssilverquill whatever amount you are willing and able to give. At this point, anything will help.
I’ve mentioned before that David Maxwell is my pen name. My real name, which is associated with my PayPal account, is David DeVault. I only point that out so that if you do donate, you will know it is going to the right person.
If you’re not in a position to make a donation, you can help by providing some supportive or encouraging comments and, if you are religious, perhaps a few prayers.
The generosity of others never ceases to amaze me. There are some truly wonderful people in this world. I am not expecting this request for support to solve all of my problems, but I am hoping that it, along with the many other actions I’m taking to rectify my situation, will help.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope to see you soon. For those of you who make an effort to help, in whatever way you can, you have my deepest gratitude.
